HOW CAN MY CHURCH SCHEDULE THE IMPACT TEAM FOR A SERVICE?
Each year, at the District Assembly, there is a sign-up sheet for pastors or other church leaders to sign if they are interested in having the IMPACT Team the following school year. A team director (Carol) then goes through the list and sets up a possible schedule taking into account the churches we have recently visited so that all churches get the opportunity to have the team. There are about 66 churches on the district and the team visits 14 of them each year; one weekend a month during the school year except December and one month near Easter (March, April or May). We try to stick with a certain weekend each month and we try to coordinate with other district events on the projected district calendar. The team has been to 55 churches on the district at least once since the team started back up in 1998. If we visited your church last year, we would not schedule you this year, unless you hosted the IMPACT Team summer camp or there were very special circumstances.
WHEN IS THE IMPACT TEAM SCHEDULE DEVELOPED?
The team director tries to have the schedule established as soon as possible after District Assembly and before IMPACT Camp for the new team, which occurs early in August or the last week of July. The objective is to have the schedule established before the parent meetings that occur on Monday and Friday of the new IMPACT team summer camp. This way the team and their parents have the scheduled and can plan their year accordingly. The team director puts together a possible schedule and begins contacting churches. If the team director does not hear back from a church, they will contact an alternate until they have the schedule established. If you want the team, make sure that you respond promptly or you may miss the opportunity.
HOW CAN I GET ON THE TEAM?
Each year, anyone that wants to be on the team has to be interviewed by the team directors, including the current members of the team that want to continue the following school year. Try-outs for the team occur near the end of each school season. The main try-out occurs at the end of district BLAST. Other opportunities are given such as the last couple IMPACT weekends on Saturday's just before practice at the church we are visiting on Sunday morning or the first day of youth camp if it is scheduled early enough in the summer. This information is first passed out to all churches at the District Sunday School Appreciation Dinner and it is placed on NCO website. If a church is not represented at the District Sunday School Appreciation Dinner, a package is mailed to the church.
