Welcome to 1 Samuel and 2 Samuel
It’s that time again! Hope everyone is having a fun and relaxing summer! School is just around the corner, which means fall is a close second and it is time to dig into God’s Word and enjoy Children’s Bible Quizzing.
Our district is very large and covers a lot of distance. Therefore, it has been broken down into 4 zoned divisions: Central, North, North-East, and South. Each area will host a quiz meet in October, November, January, and February. There will be a district quiz in March. Regional Quiz follows in May this year.
Cost per quizzer for each zone is $2.00 at each meet including the district qualifier. The regional quiz cost will be determined at a later date.
We will continue to have both red and blue level quizzes at the same time. Registration needs to begin at 9:15 at each location. If needed for any specific reason coaches and scorekeepers meeting should be held at 9:45. The quiz needs to begin no later than 10:00a.m.
There will be two rounds of quizzing for both red and blue levels.
Red Level will consist of the following:
*15 questions per round
*All questions come directly from the leader/pupil book
*Memory work questions
Blue Level will consist of the following:
*20 questions per round
*Each round will contain WORD for WORD questions directly from the leader/pupil book
*Each round will include some REWORDED questions from the leader/pupil book
*Memory work questions
I will also be sending a specific scripture verse to be quoted word for word as an added bonus at the end of each round. This will prepare our kids for what takes place at the regional level when they do the added team bonus question involving quoting scripture. We will handle this portion of the quiz as follows at the local zone meets. When the round is complete at blue level this question to quote a specific scripture verse will be posed. The first student to stand will attempt to quote the scripture word for word and giving the correct reference at the beginning. If they do that team will receive a special small prize such as (bubble-gum, lolli-pop, sweet-tarts, small candy bars) the choice is up to the different zone directors but keep them small for each quiz meet. Memory work is from various books of the Bible and 1 Samuel and 2 Samuel. (If you have any questions concerning this please contact me so I can explain).
Both red and blue levels will have two or three memory work questions at the first quiz in October. The November and January quiz will consist of roughly 80% new material and 20% review material. They will also include four to five memory questions.
Scoring and reward levels are as follows:
*Bronze Award= 70-79% correct
*Silver Award= 80-89% correct
*Gold Award= 90-99% correct
*Gold All Star= 100% correct
There will also be awards for the student that receives a perfect round.
Each church needs to provide one adult score keeper for every five quizzers. Please have others that are willing to score keep, this helps keep things moving we need to avoid slow starts as much as possible.
Ribbons will be awarded at zone quiz meets and medallions will be awarded at the district quiz. Each participant that receives a Gold-All Star at district quiz also receives a 50 % discount coupon to attend children’s camp in the summer.
Challenges at the zone quiz meets will only be allowed for the accuracy according to scripture.
